Good-faith reporting
Use the site for real litter, dumping, cleanup, and practical follow-through instead of spam, harassment, or false reports.
Stay safe
Do not enter traffic, unstable dump sites, private property, or hazardous areas just to get a better report or photo.
Expect moderation
Public content may be reviewed, organized, hidden, edited for clarity, or removed to protect quality and safety.
Respect ad rules
If ads appear later, do not click, view, refresh, or interact with ads to support the project or manipulate revenue.
Public use and reporting standards
- Use LitterMeNot for legitimate litter, dumping, cleanup, and related public-interest reporting.
- Do not submit knowingly false reports, impersonation, harassment, or abusive material.
- Do not upload dangerous, unlawful, copyrighted, privacy-invasive, or unrelated content through public forms.
- Report safely. Do not enter traffic lanes, unstable dump sites, private property, or hazardous areas just to improve a submission.
Moderation and service limits
- Submissions may be reviewed, organized, hidden, edited for clarity, consolidated, or removed to preserve safety and map quality.
- Features may change, pause, or be removed as the project evolves.
- Public listings, contributor features, and account tools may be limited to keep the public experience reliable.
- The site may block or remove spam, scraping, automated abuse, duplicate submissions, or activity that degrades the public tools.
Privacy, photos, and public content
- Do not submit personal information about someone else unless it is necessary for a legitimate safety or cleanup purpose.
- Avoid faces, license plates, house numbers, private property details, and identifying information when they are not needed to understand the litter problem.
- By submitting public content, you allow the project to display, moderate, summarize, and organize it for reporting, mapping, cleanup, and follow-through purposes.
Advertising and monetization behavior
If advertising is enabled, ads must remain separate from the site content and navigation. Do not click ads, refresh pages, automate visits, encourage others to interact with ads, or treat ad interaction as a way to support LitterMeNot. Support should come through honest use of the public tools, direct contact, or approved support channels.
No emergency use or official replacement
The site is not an emergency service and must not be relied on for urgent hazards that require immediate police, fire, medical, environmental, or road response. LitterMeNot is also not a government agency and does not replace official municipal, county, state, or environmental reporting channels.
Questions about terms
If a term, safety boundary, privacy issue, or moderation standard is unclear, use the contact page so the question can be reviewed directly.
